about accessibility
Accessibility is very important. Not least so because it's a legal requirement that any commercial website (as it's a service) in the UK is accessible to everybody. Of primary concern are people who are visually impaired and those who need alternative input methods (methods other than mice or keyboards).
The W3C (http://www.w3c.org/) - the people who look after the technical standards on the web - have thought long and hard over accessibility. They have released the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. It is these that we measure our sites against. As an aside, if you're American, we can deal with Section 508 requirements too.
There are 3 levels: Level A, which means everyone can at least navigate through the site and make sense of it; Level AA, which provides enchanced usability, especially for visually impaired users; and Level AAA, which means anyone can move through the site very easily, but can have negative impacts on the functionality of the site as some technologies fine for average users cannot be used.
As we are experienced in web accessibility (one of our specialities infact), we offer it as standard on every website we make. Accessible websites are also exceptionally well future-proofed, as technologies will always need to interact with the user through some method as defined in the WCAG.
